A Tool That Actually Makes Our Data Useful. Here's What It Does

For nearly 40 years, AUTOSOL has helped industrial companies connect, collect, and move operational data. From well sites and compressor stations to pipelines and SCADA systems, we've built our business around making sure critical data gets where it needs to go.
But over the years, we've learned something important: collecting data is only half the battle.
Today's operations have more data than ever. Historians are packed with years of information, SCADA systems monitor thousands of assets, and alarms and trends are generated every second. Yet when something goes wrong, teams keep asking the same question. Why did this happen?
The answer is rarely found in a single tag, alarm, or trend line. It lives in the relationships between systems, equipment, processes, and people. And more often than not, those relationships exist only in the minds of experienced operators and engineers. When those experts retire or move on, that knowledge usually goes with them.
That's the challenge that caught our attention when we were introduced to THRED.
The Missing Piece: Context
A historian can tell you a pressure drop occurred at 2:14 PM. But what if you could also see that a valve upstream closed 40 seconds earlier, that a similar event happened three times in the last six months, and that each one traced back to the same operational condition?
That's not just data. That's knowledge. And that's exactly what THRED was built to provide.
Rather than replacing your SCADA systems, historians, or OT infrastructure, THRED works alongside them. At the center of the platform is a knowledge graph that maps the relationships between equipment, processes, documents, events, and outcomes. Every validated relationship and confirmed cause-and-effect chain becomes part of that graph, so the system grows smarter over time and captures expertise that would otherwise stay locked in spreadsheets, reports, or someone's head.
As THRED CEO, Bob van de Kuilen puts it: "Tags capture measurements. Relationships capture meaning. Together, they create trusted intelligence that gets smarter every day."
Why It Matters
For our customers, the value shows up in the work they already struggle with.
Faster root cause analysis. When a well shuts in or a process deviates, teams can lean on relationships already mapped in the knowledge graph instead of digging through historian data, alarm logs, and documentation by hand.
Smarter SCADA migrations. The hard part of a migration usually isn't moving the data, it's understanding how assets and processes relate. By drawing on existing P&IDs, PLC code, and procedures, THRED surfaces those relationships automatically, so you can start small, prove value, and scale with confidence.
Preserved knowledge. Instead of institutional expertise walking out the door, it becomes a searchable, reusable resource that stays with the organization.
Trustworthy AI. Feeding thousands of raw tags into an AI model produces unreliable results. THRED gives AI the verified context it needs to reason over known operational structures, which means more transparency and answers you can actually trust.
The proof is in the field. Shortly before visiting AUTOSOL, the THRED team helped a manufacturer investigate recurring hydraulic pressure losses that had already eaten up nearly two weeks of troubleshooting. Using the knowledge graph and connected engineering documents, an AI-driven root cause analysis pointed to two proportional valves and flagged contamination as the likely cause, in minutes. The customer's response said it all: "Why can't every operator have access to this?"
New: THRED Built Into Edge ACM
Many of our customers don't run Ignition, but they face the same challenges around context and knowledge retention. So we worked directly with the THRED development team to build a native connector inside our Edge ACM (eACM) platform.
Now you can deploy an edge device running eACM, connect it to THRED, and start building a knowledge graph in minutes. No major infrastructure changes. No rip-and-replace. Just a faster path to understanding the data you already have.
How AUTOSOL Can Help
Technology is only valuable when it's applied to a real problem, and that's where our team comes in. We help customers put THRED to work on the projects that matter most:
- SCADA migrations and modernization
- Tag cleanup and UNS/namespace structuring
- Alarm rationalization
- Root cause analysis support
- Knowledge modeling and edge kit deployments
Whether you're planning a migration, cleaning up years of inconsistent tags, or simply trying to get more value from the systems you already have, we can help you scope a pilot and demonstrate results fast.
AUTOSOL has spent decades helping customers collect and manage operational data. With THRED, we're helping them transform that data into knowledge they can understand, share, and act on, moving beyond knowing what happened to understanding why.
